Supported learning and mindlift

We offer a wide range of courses for adults with physical and sensory impairments, learning difficulties and disabilities, and for those living with, or recovering from a mental health condition.
 
Our courses are designed to be supportive and inclusive, offering opportunities for individuals to develop essential life skills for work or volunteering, provide time to meet new friends, improve confidence, health, and independence.

Mindlift

Our Mindlift courses are for adults living with, or recovering from a mental health condition. They are designed to empower, uplift, and inspire, with a strong focus on nurturing both mental and emotional wellbeing.

Pathways to Independence

Our course programmes are designed within the concept of ‘pathways to independence’ building on the ‘preparing for adulthood’ framework created by the National Development Team for inclusion, as part of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) programme for Children and Young People.

How to enrol

To enrol on a supported learning or Mindlift course you need to complete a pre-course assessment (PCA). At the pre-course assessment we will assess your skills level and needs and recommend the right course for you.

Pre-course assessments for new learners

Pre-course assessments for new learners take place between 14–30 July and more dates starting 15–16 September.

You can book a pre-course assessment by calling 020 8314 3300, Monday to Friday from 10am-4pm.

You can also email your contact details to adultlearning@lewisham.gov.uk and we’ll call you to make an appointment.

What happens at a pre-course assessment

As part of the assessment, you will need to:

  • provide evidence of your identity
  • bring evidence of any benefits claimed in the last three months or a bank statement or wage slip if you are on a low income, and are applying for reduced fees
  • pay your course fees (where applicable) and complete your enrolment
