How to enrol
After you’ve chosen which course you want to do, you need to enrol. You should enrol before the course starts to make sure you get a place.
You can enrol up to three weeks after the start date if there are spaces available.

If this is your first enrolment you’ll need to provide proof of identity. We will accept a photo of one of the following:

No prior knowledge or experience is necessary to enrol on this course. Please be advised that some learners who enrol will have more experience than others. A basic level of English, Maths and computer skills would be useful.
What teaching methods
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course which will include the following: Demonstration - both group and individual, one to one tuition, group work, assessment of progress, observation, discussion/question, and answer sessions.
What assessment methods
The course tutor will use a range of methods to assess progress on the course. These may include: observation, evaluation of work samples, question and answer sessions, photographs of projects to record achievement to be presented on our virtual learning environment (VLE).

No prior knowledge or experience is necessary to enrol on this course. Please be advised that some learners who enrol will have more experience than others.
A basic level of English, Maths and computer skills would be useful.
What teaching methods
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course which will include the following: Demonstration - both group and individual, one to one tuition, group work, assessment of progress, observation, discussion/question and answer sessions.
What assessment methods
The course tutor will use a range of methods to assess progress on the course. These may include observation, completion of an Individual Learning Plan (eILP) which will be updated regularly, evaluation of work samples, question and answer sessions, photographs of projects to record achievement presented on our virtual learning environment (VLE).

You will be encouraged to access our virtual learning environment all.lewisham.gov.uk (VLE), take part in course forums and various online activities provided by the tutor.
Materials needed
From session 2 all learners will be expected to purchase the ingredients before the lesson and bring their own cake decorating tools if they have them.

- Produce a personal cake design portfolio and final outcome including design development, practical work, and a completed cake suitable for progression or personal use.
What prior knowledge do I need
This course is for learners who are considering a career in cake decoration. You will need to have a passion for design, colour and 3D work. Baking skills are not essential, but some experience of drawing and cake decorating are required. Basic level English, maths and computer skills would be useful.
What teaching methods
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course, including demonstration (both group and individual), one to one tuition, group work, progress assessments, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.
What assessment methods
The tutor will use various methods to assess your progress during the course. - To learn how to achieve professional cake finishes using royal icing. You will develop the skills to mix, control, and apply royal icing to create smooth coatings and flawless, crisp finishes.
- To perfect piping and decorative techniques for intricate designs. You will refine your piping skills, including string-work, cursive writing, ruffles, and the use of a variety of nozzles to produce detailed and elegant decorations.

Ingredient/material lists are provided every week.
Whilst many items/equipment are available to for you to use in the Kitchen, you must at least possess the following: Large Food grade rolling pins, smoother, rolling mat (optional), piping nozzles, food colourings (optional),e all edible items required.
What to bring
The tutor will provide the ingredients for the first lesson ONLY. Please bring a container to help with transporting your completed project, cling film, apron or overall, a notepad or digital note taking device, pen, tea towel and dish cloth.
