This course is for adults with special educational needs and learning disabilities who can recognise the alphabet, count to at least 10, and follow basic instructions. The course aims to develop your confidence in everyday ICT skills. In this introductory term, you are introduced to using the internet as a tool for everyday life. You learn how to use web browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and explore platforms like YouTube to search for useful information. You will practise using simple keywords, phrases, and questions to find information such as travel details, TV programmes, and news and also begin to identify relevant information to support simple tasks and activities.

Creative digital art

This course is for adults with special educational needs and learning disabilities who would like to get digitally creative using simple, accessible technology! You can explore art, design, and media by reimagining existing artwork, creating posters and cards, and producing simple videos. Sessions are practical and supportive, helping you to build confidence with devices while expressing yourself creatively. Over three terms, learners progress from basic digital art to creating their own digital media projects.
In term 1, you will be introduced to digital art tools and begin experimenting with colour, shapes, and images. You can explore and recreate simple artwork using accessible programs such as Microsoft Paint and Canva. The focus is on building confidence, basic mouse/control skills, and creative expression.

This course is for adults with special educational needs and learning disabilities. It is an engaging, practical and learner-centred course where you will develop digital skills, confidence, communication and independence through creative projects and real-life activities. Learning is delivered in a supportive environment where you are encouraged to explore technology at your own pace, celebrate achievements and build skills that support everyday life, learning and employment opportunities. In term 1, you will work on a project that you are interested in (it could be travel, fashion, transport, food, music or your hobbies). While working on this, you will develop confidence using Microsoft Word and learn key document creation skills, including text formatting, images, page layout and document design. You are encouraged to take risks, try new features and work independently with tutor guidance, while sharing ideas and supporting one another. The course promotes independence, creativity, communication, online safety and confidence.

You will develop confidence in reading and listening to poems, take part in group reading sessions and experience visiting a local library. We will celebrate National Poetry Day and participate in class reading activities. The course focuses on enjoyment of language, building communication skills and developing confidence in exploring books and poems in a supportive environment.
