Experiment with monotype printing in this free taster session run by artist Sarah Gursoy-Heuser. A monotype is a painting or drawing on a blank plate which you then transfer to a piece of paper using pressure to create a unique art work. Sarah Gursoy-Heuser will demonstrate different techniques and use a variety of materials and tools to help you explore direct line monotype and painterly monotype printing. The session will also give you an opportunity to take part in a group discussion and experience working in a print studio.

This course will concentrate on exploring your drawing skills whilst developing your scratch techniques to build an image. To introduce this technique, you will create a simple abstract. After some experimentation you will be able to design your own piece from week 2.

Tetra pak printing is cost effective, environmentally friendly and sustainable whilst removing the need for an expensive traditional metal plate. The quality of the carton gives a unique end result with the folds of the carton becoming part of the final print.
