This 4 week dynamic course will teach you how to draw the human figure from observation while encouraging creative exploration. Through weekly projects, you will investigate line, tone, form, movement, colour, and composition using both traditional and experimental approaches. Working from long and short poses, you’ll experiment with a variety of media. Emphasis will be placed on pushing boundaries—exploring unconventional mark-making, layering, and expressive interpretation. You will be supported to develop your own ideas and personal style, creating work that is both observational and imaginative.

This intensive one-day workshop offers a focused introduction to life drawing, with an emphasis on understanding the human form alongside the dynamic qualities of drapery and fabric. Ideal for beginners and those looking to refresh or develop their skills, the course guides learners through observational techniques that build confidence in drawing from a live model.
Throughout the day, participants will explore proportion, gesture, and structure, learning how to capture the body’s form with accuracy and expression. Special attention is given to the interaction between the figure and fabric—how material drapes, folds, stretches, and defines the underlying anatomy. Through a series of tutor-led demonstrations and practical exercises, learners will experiment with line, tone, and texture to bring depth and realism to their drawings.
