Watercolour – all levels – fortnightly – autumn
Explore the beauty of watercolour in this 3 week fortnightly painting class, suitable for all levels of ability. You’ll create vibrant, expressive work while developing a broad range of techniques, including wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet, washes, blending, and layering. You’ll also experiment with colour mixing and expressive brushwork to bring your compositions to life.
All materials and equipment are provided for each session.
This class runs every two weeks for 3 Friday mornings at our Granville Park Centre, 10.00 – 12.00 midday, on the dates below;

Painting – Tuesday pm
This five-week painting course welcomes everyone — from complete beginners to those with more experience. Working in a supportive, friendly environment, you’ll explore how to create images using the paint of your choice – Oils or acrylics. Through guided exercises, demonstrations, and individual support, you’ll build confidence in the use of colour, mark-making, composition, and translating your ideas into paint. The course encourages experimentation while helping you develop core skills and your own creative voice.

How to enrol
After you’ve chosen which course you want to do, you need to enrol. You should enrol before the course starts to make sure you get a place.
You can enrol up to three weeks after the start date if there are spaces available.

We can only accept debit or credit card payments.
Requirements
If this is your first enrolment you’ll need to provide proof of identity. We will accept a photo of one of the following:
- passport
- driving licence
- national ID card
- birth or adoption certificate
- National Insurance card
- credit or debit card
- recent utility bills or bank statements
- Freedom Pass
How to enrol if you get reduced fees
Find out whether you’re entitled to reduced fees when paying for your course.
If you’re entitled to reduced fees, you can enrol online, but you’ll need to pay for the course then claim a partial refund – you can do so by sending copies of any benefits you’ve claimed in the last three months to adultlearning@lewisham.gov.uk.

What prior knowledge do I need
No prior knowledge or experience is required to enrol on this course.
What teaching methods
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course, including demonstration (both group and individual), one to one tuition, group work, progress assessments, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.
What assessment methods
The tutor will use various methods to assess your progress during the course. These may include observation, evaluation of work samples and question and answer sessions.
Extra work
The tutor will discuss this with you in your first session.
Materials needed
The course fee includes a small charge for basic art materials and, where applicable, a model. You may be asked to provide additional materials and tools during your course, which may not be covered by the course fee. The course tutor will discuss this with you. Please do not purchase anything before your first session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a course cancelled or altered at short notice.
What to bring
Materials will be provided each week, but learners are welcome to bring their own if they like. This is a practical subject so please wear suitable clothing.
After completion
The department offers a wide variety of art, pottery and performing arts courses. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.
