How we are funded
Adult Learning Lewisham is a Council service that receives funding from the Greater London Authority (GLA), enabling us to deliver courses that transform the lives of our communities.
All our courses are part subsidised by GLA funding. Our contribution, which matches this funding, is through fee income and crucially through providing evidence of learning and its impact on learners’ lives.
London learner survey
The Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority who oversee adult education have asked us to do an important survey with adults who are studying in and around London to find out what kinds of changes happen in people’s lives while they are studying.
You will be asked to complete the survey during the first 4 weeks of their course. If you’re on a short course that lasts less than 4 weeks, please do the survey before your course finishes. If you’re on more than one course this term, you only need to do the survey once. You’ll receive a link to the survey once you’ve started your course.
What is the London learner survey about?
The survey asks about why you want to study, your health, your job (if you have one) and how you feel about other things in your life like working, volunteering and spending time with different kinds of people. It’s hosted by an independent research company, IFF Research. All your answers will be stored securely by IFF Research. Your learning provider won’t be able to see your answers.
It will also ask you for your contact details so IFF Research can get back in touch with you after you finish your course to find out if anything has changed.
It asks these questions to find out if doing this course changes anything about your life – for example getting a new or different job, meeting different kinds of people, or helping you to feel more confident or happy.
By taking part, you’ll help to improve adult courses for all Londoners. We promise you will not receive any spam or marketing emails from IFF Research.

Adult education working in partnership
Adult Learning Lewisham works in partnership with schools, children’s centres, libraries, and community and voluntary sector organisations to deliver adult education and skills to meet local needs.
We work with partner organisations to offer a wide range of family learning courses, employment skills training, develop literacy, numeracy and language programmes. If you’re involved with an organisation that works at a local level, we may be able to help you fulfil a local education need.
We work with employers to provide training and education for their staff. Our service is based on employer requirements and is flexible, affordable and effective. Employers can access training in areas such as English and maths. We can also develop provision that meets a specific educational need.

We work in partnership with fellow education and skills providers in the borough to promote the benefits of adult learning and to offer progression to our learners.
