Our health and wellbeing courses support adults living with a mental health condition in building confidence and independence. From cooking nutritious meals and developing daily living skills to enjoying fun physical activities, each course is designed to promote a healthy, active lifestyle in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our life skills courses are designed to support adults recovering from or living with a mental health condition in building confidence, independence, and essential everyday skills.
Social skills
Social skills
These courses are for people recovering from or living with a mental health condition, offering a supportive space to learn, grow, and connect with others.
You will take part in activities that build teamwork, strengthen social skills, and support positive communication – at your own pace.
Work skills
Work skills
Pathways into employment and supported employment programmes help adults with mental health conditions gain practical skills and confidence for work. Learners will strengthen communication, improve English and maths, and develop computer skills.
Courses guide learners to identify strengths and interests, create CVs and cover letters, and practise workplace communication and behaviour. Employment programmes empower participants to take confident steps toward their employment goals.
How to enrol
To enrol on a Mindlift course you need to complete a pre-course assessment (PCA). At the pre-course assessment we will assess your skills level and needs and recommend the right course for you.
Pre-course assessments for new learners
Pre-course assessments for new learners take place between 14–30 July and more dates starting 15–16 September.
You can book a pre-course assessment by calling 020 8314 3300, Monday to Friday from 10am-4pm.
You can also email your contact details to adultlearning@lewisham.gov.uk and we’ll call you to make an appointment.
What happens at a pre-course assessment
As part of the assessment, you will need to:
- provide evidence of your identity
- bring evidence of any benefits claimed in the last three months or a bank statement or wage slip if you are on a low income, and are applying for reduced fees
- pay your course fees (where applicable) and complete your enrolment
